Resumen
The article focuses on various advantages offered to web application software developers, by Java programming language, developed by the U.S.-based software company Sun Microsystems Inc. According to the author, Java resolves many of the platform compatibility issues, increasingly faced by web programmers, in the wake of ever increasing number of web solution products being launched by a hoard of software companies. Besides, Java run-times libraries, containing useful machine code modules, provides web application developers with the ability to write code in one single language and the confidence that the code will execute successfully in cross-platform environments. Java, does a lot to free web solution developers from the cost of porting their applications to a myriad software platforms and operating systems, and even worse than that, maintaining multiple-code bases that are otherwise required. Despite the fact that many such cross-platform run-time systems like Lisp, Smalltalk and many other interpreted languages have existed for many years, Java, the author further maintain, is the first to achieve widespread popularity among commercial web developers.
