Plauger topped the list. 1979's "Classics in Software Engineering," by E. Yourdon was number two. 1973's "Theory of Parsing, Translation and Compiling," by A.V. Aho and J.D. Ullman was third. 1975's "Pascal User Manual and Reporting," by K. Jensen and N. Worth was fourth. 1958's "Computer and the Brain," by J. Van Neumann was fifth.
