In an interview, Wendy Hall, professor, computer science, University of Southampton, and president, ACM, discussed her plans to increase ACM's membership and to create task forces in China, India, and Europe. Broadly speaking, Hall wants more people to join ACM, she wants more women to join ACM. The association is developing a series of task forces to explore what it can do in particular areas of the world -- China, India, Europe. The task forces are geographically based, and ACM CEO John White is working very hard to get a good quality, diverse membership. In November, ACM held a summit largely aimed at Chinese educators. It, too, held its first meeting this February, in London. ACM has had a steady membership growth, and it reckons it can get to an even 100,000.
