The article discusses the Association for Computing Machinery's (ACM) plagiarism policy in light of certain cases of plagiarism seen in articles submitted to the "Communications of the ACM." The authors discuss plagiarism and intellectual dishonesty, as well as the phenomenon of "self-plagiarism." While the ACM code does not specifically address the issue of self-plagiarism, which is defined as reusing an author's own work without adequate citation of the previous work, it recognizes the problem. The article discusses how the ACM Publication's Board has created a plagiarism policy as of November 2005.
