Resumen
The article focuses on persuasive computing technology. Persuasion has always been part of human experience. The May 1, 1999 issue of the periodical "Communications of the ACM" includes examples of persuasive technology and describes and analyzes persuasive interactive technologies, offering glimpses of what's coming just over the technological horizon, as well as several promising commercial applications that have already found a market. One section of the periodical focuses on issues of credibility as they apply to computing systems, defining credibility and outlining its importance in computing systems. The article concludes with an examination of ethics of persuasive technologies. According to the author people must educate themselves and others about the related potential and pitfalls. By understanding persuasive technologies, people create for themselves opportunities to leverage the power of persuasive computing to improve our lives, communities and societies. Persuasive computing technology is a computing system, device, or application intentionally designed to change a person's attitudes or behavior in a predetermined way. INSET: The Functional Triad of Computer Persuasion.
