An element called "technical access control" is applied to copyrighted works distributed in digital format, aimed at controlling the mode of use. However, technical access control may prevent and interfere with many kinds of uses of the material that does not comprehend to copyright violation. This interference of the technology access control has been discusses in the article. Computers offer many practical advantages for search applications. It might be prohibitively expensive to search a large collection by hand, but doing the same search on an inexpensive computer might provide an instant and authentic result. If the digital works are technically protected in such a way that they can be viewed on the screen but not electronically searched, then the technical protection interferes with noninfringing uses. Same is the case while searching for musical scores and videos as well. Computer programs are usually protected not just by copyright law, but by licenses. The license contracts may prohibit the kind of analysis highlighted, and this should be considered by copyright regulations.
