Resumen
This article focuses on software piracy and states that there are two notable notions developed about piracy and pirates. One is the hard notion of robbery on the high seas by someone not holding a commission from a civilized state. The other notion is that of infringement of rights conferred by a patent or copyright by some who appropriate or reproduce without leave, for their own benefit, a composition, idea, or invention that they have no right to and, especially, one who infringes on the copy right of another. They author argues that today, software piracy is not being taken seriously. It is acceptable by many because it appears to be a soft crime which seems harmless, with no violence involved and, therefore, of no real danger to anyone. The author here talks about the hazards of thinking in stereotypes, standardization, and conventional actions. According to him the IT industry is conservative. In general, many people involved in developing the law and in enforcing it are, regrettably, truly conservative thinkers.
