Requirements elicitation and documentation are complex activities. The quality of their products can improve through stakeholders' participation, particularly in projects with high uncertainty. However, participative requirements engineering, especially in distributed environments, needs a platform that can support effective collaboration among often diverse stakeholders. Wikipedia has proved the flexibility of wikis for collaborating on content creation in general. In this article, the authors adapt this approach to support active stakeholder participation in RE. They include a document structure for wiki-based RE and discuss challenges and solutions based on their experience with several industry and academic projects.
