RESUMEN

The effect of the equatorial electrojet on the velocity vector and the temperature of the surrounding environment is modeled by the classical magnetohydrodynamic equations. Under the assumption of small hydrodynamic and magnetic Reynolds numbers and an electrojet magnetic field which oscillates along its axis, z, the nonlinear governing equations are solved by asymptotic approximation. The effect of the intensity of the magnetic field, inter alia, on the flow variables are deduced quantitatively. For example, when the field intensity is small, the temperature distribution is large and vice versa. Also at the higher approximation, there is a component of the flow variables which is completely independent of the axis, z, of the magnetic field variation. Since the classical equation for the temperature is quite similar to the mass diffusion equation, the present study also sheds light on the effect of the electrojet on the atmospheric ozone I its vicinity. Indeed the thermal field and the ozone concentration are affected similarly.

RESUMEN

The free convection boundary layer flow with simultaneous heat and mass transfer in a porous medium is studied when the boundary wall moves in its own plane with suction. The study also incorporates chemical reaction for the very simple model of a binary reaction with Arrhenius activation energy. For large suction asymptotic approximate solutions are obtained for the flow variables for various values of the activation energy.
