e-Services are intangible
products, provisioned via the Internet. Examplesinclude Internet accessand Internet radio. Becausemost e-servicesinvolvemultipleenterprises, creating a sharedunderstandingoftheserviceunderdevelopmentisanissue.
Suchan e-serviceis more difficulttounderstandthan a propositionjustconsistingofgoodsbecauseserviceslackeasily observable physicalproperties. Consequently,
software engineersmustfirstunderstandthe e-serviceitselfbeforethey can buildeffectivesystemsandsupportfortheseservices. Theauthorspresentthecomplementary use oftworequirementsengineeringtechniques. Using i* modeling, they explore strategicgoalsthatenterpriseshave, andusing e3value modeling, theyunderstand how thesegoals can result in profitableservicesforenterprises.
They
demonstrate their approach using a case study on Internet radio.This
